What do you usually do if you need to convert a file from one format to another? Still scratching your head? Ok, what if i tell you that online-convert.com is a useful website to bookmark, as it allows users to convert a file from one format to another.

online-convert.com supports conversion of Audio files, Video files, Images, Documents, Ebooks. With videos, the website also offers presets for getting the videos converted for iPod / iPhone / PSP etc.

Follow the steps below to convert your file from one format to the other.

1.) Navigate to the website by typing in www.online-convert.com

2.) Select the type of conversion you wish to do. Assuming you want to get a video converted for your iPhone, select the right choice from the drop-down menu listed under Video converter.

3.) You will next be taken to a page where you need to either upload your file or specify the URL of the file. Once you have entered the details, pressConvert File.

4.) If you are not working with a preset (like iPhone / iPod / PSP etc), you will also be allowed to specify other optional settings like bitrate etc.

5.) online-convert.com will then process the file and provide you with a download link. The download link will be valid for 3 days / 10 downloads (whichever happens first).

6.) File conversion, at times can take up a few minutes. In that case, you can enter your email address in the box provided and you will be notified with an email when theconversion completes.

You cannot upload files larger than 100 MB.

As the files are processed and uploaded to the web, you shouldn’t be using this service for converting confidential files. Use your own wisdom when using this tool.

Personally, i tried it with a few video and document formats and it does work well. What i really liked about this tool is the fact that you have all thefile conversion utilities at one place; from your images to your videos and ebooks.

Google’s much-hyped “so called email killer” product, Google Wave will see the last of light by end of the year. As per an official statement by Google on its blog, Google will no longer be investing any development effort into Google Wave as the adoption for the system has been fairly low. As per Google’s Senior Vice President Urs Holzle, Google will keep the website operational, at least through the end of the year, and extend the Google Wave technology for use in other Google projects.

Google Wave made it to the world in June 2009 and since then the debate was on around where can the product be used. The primary feature offered by Google wave allowed users to collaborate in real-time. This was done using an in-box style interface which resembled Gmail’s interface (web). Each chain of message were called a wave. The chain of message could include text, photos and links.Google even offered an API for the product. The ideology behind the API was to allow to developers to create extensions to the product. These extensions could then be turned-on or turned-off by the user on-demand.

Going forward, it appears that with the end of Wave, Google wants to ensure its seriousness and continued focus towards its other social efforts like Google Apps, Google Buzz and also the rumored Google Games (Google recently made an investment of $100 million in Zynga, the creators of games like FarmVille and Mafia Wars).

Administrator plays the major role in windows user account. He has all the rights to the system, we can have one or more administrator for windows operating system. If you forget the administrator password, We can use password reset disk (USB) to recover the password.

If you don’t have password reset disk, then also you can reset the password. This case is applicable only if you have another administrator account. I am using HP laptop and i have only one administrator account. I usually login with my laptop using finger print recognition and recently i forgot the admin password. I logged in as administrator using finger print, then i tried to reset the password. But it was asking for old password, which i don’t remember. So i tried the following steps to reset administrator password usingcommand prompt.

Steps to reset password using Command prompt

Step 1: Open the command prompt as administrator using Run As Administrator option.

Step 2: Type net user, it shows all the user account in the system.

Step 3: Then type the Command, C:\Windows\system32>net user <user account name> *

Step 4: It will prompt for new password, type new password and then retype the password to confirm it.

Step 5: The command will be completed successfully, then try login to that account using new password.

DNS server (Commonly : Domain Name Server ) which helps to resolve the web address which you typed in the browser. If your ISP DNS server goes down you will be connected to internet but you cant open the websites.

So if you want to make surfing speed more faster or if you face problem in opening website though internet is connected, you need to assign your DNS ip address to nearest and fastest DNS server. There are famous free DNS servers like OpenDNS and Google DNS these servers helps you to browse fast. But if your connection is very slow in reaching these server obviously everything goes slow.

We found a free software tool called DNS Jumper which helps to find out the nearest DNS servers by making a traceroute of list of DNS servers and DNS Jumper will list the fastest DNS server where you can apply the fastest DNS server near by you. DNS Jumper has more tools like DNS backup, Flush DNS.

Download DNS Jumper from FiberDownload

Note : Before applying the new DNS server have a backup of your old DNS settings.

Google has refreshed the image search feature and added a pretty neat, never ending UI which allows you to go through the images as a stream.

As per Google, when it launched Google Image Search first in 2001, it indexed around 250 million images. By 2005, this number was up at 1 billion images. However, today, i.e. in 2010, Google has indexed over 10 billion images.

Here’s what’s new in this refreshed design of Google Images

Dense tiled layout designed to make it easy to look at lots of images at once. We want to get the app out of the way so you can find what you’re really looking for.

Instant scrolling between pages, without letting you get lost in the images. You can now get up to 1,000 images, all in one scrolling page. And we’ll show small, unobtrusive page numbers so you don’t lose track of where you are.

Larger thumbnail previews on the results page, designed for modern browsers and high-res screens.

A hover pane that appears when you mouse over a given thumbnail image, giving you a larger preview, more info about the image and other image-specific features such as “Similar images.”

Once you click on an image, you’re taken to a new landing page that displays a large image in context, with the website it’s hosted on visible right behind it. Click anywhere outside the image, and you’re right in the original page where you can learn more about the source and context.

Optimized keyboard navigation for faster scrolling through many pages, taking advantage of standard web keyboard shortcuts such as Page Up / Page Down. It’s all about getting you to the info you need quickly, so you can get on with actually building that treehouse or buying those flowers.

The new refreshed Google Image search is being rolled out right now and therefore might not be available for all users right now.

Apart from adding features to Google Image Search, Google has also released a new Ad Format for Image search. The format is rightly named, Image Search Ads.

Few points worth noting about Image Search Ads

1.) These ads appear only on Google Images, and they let you include a thumbnail image alongside your lines of text.

2.) Specific performance metrics can be reviewed by Advertisers for their ads on Google Images. Ads are priced the same as standard AdWords ads with cost-per-click pricing.

3.) You can easily create Image Search Ads using Ad Display Builder.

The Smart Phone pie is the hottest dish in the market now – and just about everybody wants a piece of that pie. Post iPhone, and Google’s venture into the Mobile OS arena – this has come to be an extremely dynamic and fast paced micro-industry. To name a few of the players – Apple (iOS), Google (Android), Samsung (Bada), RIM (BlackBerry OS), Palm (WebOS) , Nokia (Meego and Symbian) and finally Micros0ft with Windows Phone 7.

Much has been written about the epic battles between iPhone and Android, the two clear leaders in the segment. While these two galloped ahead, a lot of the competitors lost a lot more than just market share, with Microsoft being one of the bigger losers. Windows Mobile 6.5 was not even a blip in the mobile event calendars. Microsoft’s market share dropped close to 2% along with considerable revenue. Their attempt at converging the hardware and an application environment failed miserably – with the KIN models being discontinued just 6 weeks after the launch. But all that may soon be history – as Microsoft aims to rewrite the script of its game play in the smart phone market by rewriting Windows Mobile.

Windows Phone 7
Quite a mouthful, we admit. But the rebranding of Windows Mobile to Windows Phone 7 has more to it than just the change in nomenclature. Windows Phone 7 (WP7) is completely rewritten from scratch – with a complete new base code that has evolved from the successful Zune HD platform. The interface is slick, with large tiles that are thumb-able and very intuitive. The biggest booster is the fact that WP7 imposes a minimum hardware recommendation – that’s some pretty hardware they want packed.
Capacitive Touch: 4 or more contact points
Sensors: A-GPS, Accelerometer, Compass, Light, Proximity
Camera: 5 megapixels or more, Camera with a flash and dedicated camera button
Multimedia: Common detailed specs, Codec acceleration
Memory: 256 MB, 8 GB Flash or more
GPU: DirectX 9 acceleration
Processor: ARMv7 Cortex/Scorpion or better (1 GHz or better)
2 screen sizes: 480×800 WVGA, 480×320 HVGA
Keyboard: Optional
Hardware Buttons: Must be fixed on the face

What’s new?
User Interface. Microsoft calls it the Metro UI, redesigned from scratch, its fluid, crisp and extremely functional. When I say, scratch, I mean Zune HD scratch. The entire experience now revolves around what Microsoft calls “Hubs”. The design is functional, and is not by any means intrusive. It is fresh and well thought – this time round Microsoft seems to have thought about how people would want to use their content.

Live Tiles and Hubs are Microsoft’s new UI mantra – these go beyond your usual icons and widgets. Live Tiles are essentially dynamic widgets that give live information – about your contact, messages, alerts etc. Hubs go a little further – there are six of them – People, Pictures, Games, Music + Video, Marketplace, and Office. As the names suggest they bring together and converge the services/content/ information about them into a single pane. For example, the People Hub brings together all the people from different accounts – Facebook, Exchange, local phone – and creates an information stream. Unlike MotoBlur, this is not so “Up in your face” and is much more streamlined. The biggest advantage of such an approach is that it eliminates the need for opening multiple applications to do these things. Consumption of information is much easier thanks to the integration. It brings together the functionality of a contextual menu and an application..

So what is not there?
Although it may be called Windows Phone 7, it’s actually the first iteration of a new generation OS. So what is there is great. But what are there can actually be the real deal breakers. So what is likely to be missing in the first iteration?

Here is where WP7 begins to sound a lot like Apple:

Cut / Copy and Paste : something that might be very very important. But Microsoft has not seemingly left us high and dry. They have in-fact introduced a new feature called “Smart Links” that should pop up at places where one might want to use CCP and does its magic. We are not very sure how this is going to help us, until we actually use it.

Multi tasking: This one is a big deal breaker. Citing security issues and potential battery drain, Microsoft has consciously decided to leave Multi tasking out of the first release of WP7.

Custom UI: With the aim of bringing consistency into the user experience, MSFT has decided that the UI for WP7 shall not be customizable. Too bad if you are a big fan of HTC’s Touch Flow…

Flash : though omitted from the first release, Adobe and Microsoft are working together to bring Flash and AIR to the WP7 platform

Conclusion
Microsoft has always displayed an uncanny ability to rise and fight back when it’s pushed against the wall – its acts of desperation sparkle with shades of genius and always bringing in the big buck – be it with Windows 7 or the Xbox 360. WP7 appears fresh, functional and most importantly intuitive and attractive. Instead of going retro, a la iPhone, give us some basic multi-tasking and copy/paste and we have a winner.
